Patriots: Men Who Started the American Revolution by A.J. Langguth
This was the second book that I read, once my interest in American History was awakened. It was reccommended to me by my good friend and Revolutionary War buff Jerry Hurwitz. After that, there was no stopping me. It’s a great read to acquaint you with those icons of history who gave us our country.
The Law, by Frederic Bastiat
Bastiat was an early Libertarian, although that label did not exist in the 1950’s when he lived. This is short essay, in book form, which is must reading for those seeking the philosophical antecedents for current Libertarian thought.
Patriots: Men Who Started the American Revolution by A.J. Langguth
This was the second book which I read, once my interest in American History was awoken. It was reccommended to me by my good friend and American History buff, Jerry Hurwitz, who was my guest on July 5, 2009. This book is a wonderful introduction to the men and the times of our founding.
Passionate Sage – The Character and Legacy of John Adams
This was the book which got me hooked on studying the American Revolution. I was watching Book Notes one evening and heard an interview with Joseph H. Ellis discussing this recently publishing biography of the retirement years of our second president. I read the book. What followed was a 14 year fascination with our early history and the men and women who gave us America.
Frederic Bastiat
Frederic Bastiat lived in the early 19th century and was quite influential on Libertarian thought. Interesting guy. Worth reading.

Libertarian Reader; Classic & Contemporary Readings From Lao-Tzu to Milton Friedman: edited by David Boaz
David Boaz is a stalwart of the Cato Institute, one of my favorite Libertarian think tanks. He’s written a wonderful book on old and new Libertarian writings. I use it frequently as a reference work, or simply to get my intellectual batteries charged.
