*Gone Viral* Goes Viral
Justin Hart's new book exposes COVID insanity for what it is. Let's not forget it.
Like most Americans, Justin Hart was minding his own business – a successful data visualization business – when the pandemic snuck up on us in early 2020. Seeing that something was amiss in the reported figures, he felt compelled to start the Rational Ground organization as an “answer to the flood of chaotic COVID-19 misinformation.”
Nearly three years after lockdowns first went into effect, the early days of COVID hysteria are starting to recede into the collective memory for many of us. Some of us have stopped highlighting the government’s insanity and deprivations of our essential liberties (I haven’t done a show on COVID in almost a year). Justin, however, has continued the fight – leveraging his skills as a data guy to continue to expose the bureaucrats and COVID “Karens” for their hysterical overreactions.
Justin’s new book, Gone Viral: How Covid Drove the World Insane, has persuaded me to do whatever I can to help his message “go viral,” so that a majority of Americans will look back on this period with the appropriate level of cynicism about our health authorities. We must never let them persuade us to abandon our freedoms so readily for the sake of a false measure of security. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Justin joins me this Sunday at 8 am PACIFIC – two days ahead of the release of the book – to deliver the bitter takeaways regarding the mass psychosis, which sadly still persists in many pockets of the country like academia. Most college students are still mandated to get vaccinated despite their lower risk profile for the virus, and many schools are even bringing back mask mandates for any classroom where the teacher wishes to impose them.
Gone Viral takes us through a series of depressing facts, including:
The ineffectiveness of lockdowns, which tanked the world economy and caused massive waves of disease and death in the Third World.
The violation of the Hippocratic Oath caused by overly aggressive intubation, often killing the patients for the sake of protecting staff and other patients.
The dangers of cloth masks and plexiglass barriers, which provided a false sense of security while actually trapping viral particles and impeding airflow.
The devastating effects of school closures on learning outcomes, rates of child abuse, and youth suicides.
The pandemic will not be truly over until we confront these uncomfortable truths and recover our collective sanity. Instead, the response from social media to people like Justin who point out these facts has been to repeatedly ban them.
California is going a step further and attempting to establish a “Health-information police,” which would “empower the Medical Board of California to go after the licenses of physicians who disseminate ‘misinformation’ or ‘disinformation’ regarding Covid-19.”
And how is misinformation defined in AB 2098?
“…[F]alse information that is contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care.”
The same scientific consensus that first told us that masks were useless against an aerosolized virus?
And that put patients on ventilators against the Hippocratic Oath?
And that locked down the economy and then later denied ever doing such a thing?
Forgive me if I view the scientific consensus as less than “airtight.”
We can hope that Justin’s book will be received as a clarion call – like Reagan’s message to Gorbachev that ended the Cold War, only this time addressed to the CDC – to end the insanity once and for all.
We’ve seen how people like Justin, armed with visual data and easily-digestible memes, have moved the needle, but clearly there’s still more work to be done.
Learn the data, by reading Justin’s book or tuning into the show of ideas this Sunday, or subscribing to the podcast.
Lastly, share these memes far and wide, so the world never forgets just how crazy things got:

Rational Ground Conference, this Saturday
Lastly, Rational Ground is hosting an in-person conference in San Diego this Saturday, and there are still a handful of tickets left. Come meet Justin Hart, Scott Atlas, and Jay Bhattacharya, among others, and learn how you can help in the fight. Masks are not required.
